Miguel Crespo’s Fenerbahçe TV interview

The Portuguese midfielder Miguel Crespo, who is currently in his third season with Fenerbahçe in Turkey, stated, “Turkey has surprised me a lot. My thoughts before coming here were very different from my current thoughts.”

In an interview with the club’s television, Crespo, Fenerbahçe’s Portuguese player, said, “We are Fenerbahçe, and our goal and desire are always to win every match we play.”

Crespo emphasized that they made the best use of the national break and mentioned the upcoming intense schedule, but he expressed the team’s commitment to always be on the field to win.

Highlighting the direct impact of the team’s quality and experienced players on the overall performance, the Portuguese player stated, “We are well aware that there will be challenging matches, and we will play them shortly. We are preparing in the best possible way. I believe we worked well and strongly during the national break because we are aware of our responsibilities. Therefore, we continue our efforts in this direction to win the matches we will play.”

“Fenerbahçe deserves to continue winning”

As a team accustomed to winning, Crespo expressed confidence that they would continue their winning streak after the international break, saying, “I think we started the season well. We had consecutive victories from the beginning. But in football, these things can happen, and you can lose a match. Of course, we are Fenerbahçe, and our goal and desire are always to win every match we play. We want to win all the matches we play. We are trying to put our best foot forward. Our opponents, when they play against us, are also trying to give their best and can create difficulties for us. Because they are also fighting to win. But after the international break, we want to come back and showcase our best game and continue with victories. That is what Fenerbahçe deserves.”

“Working with great players”

Crespo mentioned the responsibilities they carry due to playing numerous matches, emphasizing the need to be constantly prepared mentally and physically. He stated that they pay attention to working well with their teammates and emphasized the importance of rest. Assessing the new squad and season, the 27-year-old player said, “This is my third season here, and we are working with great players. I can say that there are differences this year. We have very experienced, talented, quality, well-known players, there is no doubt about that. The presence of these players is a factor that increases the capacity of our team, not only individually. We shouldn’t look at this issue individually because their way of influencing and helping the team is, in my opinion, very, very important. Therefore, playing with quality players collectively allows us to do better on the field.”

Regarding his own performance, Miguel Crespo stated, “When a player gets more playing time, more confidence is gained. In this sense, my coach gives me opportunities to be on the field, and I am happy for that and, of course, for being able to help my team. I believe I can exceed my current capacity.”

“3 years have been very good”

Sharing his thoughts on Turkey and Istanbul as a foreign player living there for three seasons, Crespo said, “Turkey has surprised me a lot because my thoughts before coming here were very different from my current thoughts. Istanbul is truly a quality city. Turkey is a beautiful country. People’s approach is very nice. People who have not been in Turkey cannot understand how this place is. I did not expect Turkey to surprise me this much. I have positive feelings towards Turkey. I have spent three years here, and I can say that these three years have been good. Likewise, my wife is very happy to be here. Personally, I prefer spending time at home more, but we go to restaurants and places to visit from time to time. When we go out, people treat us very well. But as I mentioned, we are home people; we like spending time at home. Of course, we also have good times when we go out.”

“We will be champions”

Expressing his belief in winning the championship and addressing the fans, Crespo concluded, “We will be champions. We really believe in this, and we are working for it. None of our fans should doubt this. We believe in it a lot. Of course, during this process, we need the support of our fans in the matches we will play. As a team, we will do everything to achieve the championship. I hope that at the end of the season, we will achieve this with their support.”
