The European Court of Justice decided that by preventing the establishment of the European Super League in 2021, UEFA and FIFA acted contrary to competition law. However, after this decision, many clubs announced that they would not participate in the European Super League. Fenerbahçe is also one of the teams that cannot support this organization.
The statement from the yellow-and-navy club is as follows:
“As a club, we want everyone to know that we will continue to support our long-standing partnership and collaboration with UEFA and FIFA to preserve the values that form the foundation of the European Sports Model. Additionally, we want to reiterate our strong commitment to the role that the European Club Association has taken on alongside UEFA in bringing excitement and joy to millions of fans around the world through UEFA Club Competitions. Fenerbahçe SK is not in favor of any separatist tournament that poses a significant threat to national leagues, equal competition rights for all stakeholders, and most importantly, the cultural heritage that makes football so beautiful for everyone.”
