Turkish Super Cup crisis has deepened! Teams don’t want to play the match!
Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray have not yet left the hotel where they conducted their training camps.
Before the Fenerbahçe vs. Galatasaray Super Cup match, teams wanted to warm up wearing t-shirts featuring the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Founder of the Republic of Turkey.
Permission not granted by Arab authorities
As permission was not granted by Arab authorities, the presidents of the two clubs declared, “If there is no Atatürk, then we are not here. We will not play the match.”
The wait continues
Minutes before the match, the wait is still ongoing. The Turkish Football Federation, Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç and officials, Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek and officials are still in a meeting with Saudi authorities.
Banners were also not permitted
It has been announced that Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray teams wanted to take the field with a banner bearing Atatürk’s famous quote “Peace at Home, Peace in the World,” but the Arab authorities did not accept.
