Çağlar Söyüncü’s Fenerbahçe TV Interview
Fenerbahçe's new defender Çağlar Söyüncü made statements to the club's television. The experienced defender said, "One of the biggest factors in my transfer process is the championship dreams we will experience at the end of the season."
Çağlar Söyüncü, who joined Fenerbahçe during the mid-season transfer period, spoke to FBTV. Çağlar Söyüncü touched upon the club‘s goals in addition to discussing the transfer process.
Speaking about the reasons for choosing Fenerbahçe, Söyüncü said, “One of the biggest factors in my transfer process is the championship dreams we will experience at the end of the season.”
“I am where I aimed”
Talking about his goals, Çağlar Söyüncü said, “It is a great pleasure for me to send a message to our fans through you. It is very special for me too. At the moment, I am where I aimed. Before coming, like every footballer, I had goals, dreams… I believe we will reach the end of the season as a team to fulfill my dreams. My first goal was to adapt quickly to the team and be able to play. I achieved that as of yesterday. I am happy for that; we got a beautiful victory. I thank my teammates, coaches, and fans very much. I knew I would overcome the adaptation issue quickly because I am Turkish, but I came to a new team, and there are very quality names. They all helped me. I am very happy at the moment.”
Reminded of his first national team match in Antalya against Sweden in his career, Çağlar, who played his first match for Fenerbahçe against Antalyaspor away, commented, “We had talked to Serdar elder brother before the match. There had been times when we played a lot of national matches on the Antalya field, in the years 2016-2017. We had talked, but I hadn’t remembered this. Maybe it didn’t come to my mind because of my concentration on the match. Now I remember. That was also a very special match. We won that match too. We won yesterday as well. It is very important for us to win both matches.”
Transfer Process
Speaking about the transfer process, Çağlar Söyüncü said, “It was a tough process. It was exhausting, especially mentally, for about 2.5-3 weeks. I was completely focused on coming here. I wasn’t thinking about anywhere else. That’s why it was a bit tough for me. But of course, when the end of the job is happy… I can attribute my performance in the match to this. I can feel more comfortable on the field due to the happiness and peace that the transfer brings, with the support of my teammates… The most important thing is that I am returning to my country. It was a challenging process, but I look at the end of everything. I thank Ali President and the president of Atletico Madrid because it ended well. Thanks to everyone who contributed.”
Çağlar Söyüncü conveyed the most important factor in the transfer process with the following words:
“One of the biggest factors in my transfer process is the championship dreams we will experience at the end of the season. I really couldn’t feel it as much when I watched from the outside. But now that I’m involved, there is a family atmosphere, unity… I can understand better how the results of the matches come out. Our training programs are really good, we work well, there are very experienced names. Despite their advancing age, they do every training session 100%. Despite their age, they set an example for the young ones. When this comes together, we can win the desired 3 points more easily in matches. Our goals are big. We have 4 cups ahead of us. I believe we can win all of them. All our teammates want this from the heart. I talk to foreigners too. I played with most of them, and I have good communication with them. Everyone wants this. This was the biggest factor in my transfer process.”
Thanks to the Fans
Finally, thanking the fans for their support, Çağlar Söyüncü said, “I also want to thank them separately. From the first day of the transfer process until today, they always supported and believed. Just as they believed in the team, they made me feel the same way. I thank them; they didn’t leave me alone yesterday either. They welcomed me at the airport, and there was a very nice reception before and after the match in Antalya. For them, for this community, we will try to be even better. We will do whatever we can. Every match is now a final match for us. We thank them very much. Their support is crucial for us, for our club, for the community. We will put our hearts into it. Hopefully, together we will reach a happy ending at the end of the season. (In Kadıköy) I am also looking forward to playing against them with excitement. I hope everything goes well.”
