Former President Aziz Yıldırım Urges Fenerbahçe Unity and Support for Success
Aziz Yıldırım, one of Fenerbahçe's former presidents, attended the opening ceremony of the Fenerbahçe Volunteers Association's Izmir Branch. Aziz Yıldırım stated, 'We are Fenerbahçe supporters; we want its success, and it must be successful. If support is needed, we will provide it.'
Speaking to journalists after cutting the opening ribbon at the ceremony for the new branch of the Fenerbahçe Volunteers Association, Yıldırım wished success for the newly opened branch and continued his remarks:
“Fenerbahçe needs to be united; there should be no division. Division harms the club and the community. You may not see the consequences today, but you will see them in the future, maybe in 5 or 10 years. When division starts, unity disappears. Fenerbahçe supporters begin to quarrel among themselves. This is a very dangerous thing; that’s why our unity is essential.”
AZIZ YILDIRIM: “ANYONE WHO DOESN’T WANT FENERBAHÇE’S SUCCESS IS DISHONEST”
Yıldırım emphasized that everyone should desire Fenerbahçe’s success, stating, “Anyone who doesn’t want Fenerbahçe’s success, says, ‘they don’t matter, I matter,’ or whatever they say, they are dishonest. I’m saying this very seriously. Fenerbahçe’s success is everyone’s. Its failure is also ours, but we, as fans, don’t get as upset as the administrators because we are supporters. We experience the events, forget them in the morning, but the manager doesn’t. The sorrow or other events continue for them.”
Noting that children are no longer becoming Fenerbahçe fans, Yıldırım said, “We need to stop this. We must all fight together; it should be done; Fenerbahçe must win. Fenerbahçe has faced these challenges since its establishment, even during the War of Independence, the club was on the verge of closure in the 1930s. Fenerbahçe is a community that has always been a leader in society. There will always be those who want to tarnish and destroy it, of course.”
Yıldırım stated that the goal of “1 million members” is very important, saying:
“I will tell you about it later, I will make speeches, not today but later. Fenerbahçe currently has no problems, neither a presidency problem nor any other issue. Fenerbahçe has only one problem: success. We currently have a chance to become champions. They swear in conferences. We have a chance to win that. We need to come together and win these two. Then we can fight. Fighting is easy. It’s easy for us.”
“SUPPORT, IF NEEDED, WE WILL PROVIDE”
Yıldırım explained that anger and resentment should not override being a Fenerbahçe supporter, saying, “We are Fenerbahçe fans; we want its success. It must be successful. If support is needed, we will provide it. This support can be through a strong stance; it can be achieved without shouting or any other means.”
