After Fenerbahçe’s announcement that they will play with their U19 team, there is curiosity about what will happen.
Fenerbahçe had announced that they would play tomorrow’s Super Cup match against Galatasaray with their U19 team. Following the statement by acting president Erol Bilecik that “It won’t be a 90-minute match,” there is curiosity about what will happen in the match.
The 2023 Super Cup match, which was planned to be played on December 29, 2023, at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, was postponed due to the crisis before the match in Riyadh. The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) had announced on February 21, 2024, that the Super Cup match would be played on April 7, 2024, at the Şanlıurfa 11 Nisan Stadium. Referee Volkan Bayarslan will whistle for the match, which will start tomorrow at 9:30 PM. Serkan Ok and Serkan Olguncan will be the assistant referees.
FENERBAHÇE WILL PLAY WITH THE U19 TEAM
Following the incidents after the Trabzonspor match, the Fenerbahçe administration held an Extraordinary General Assembly meeting on April 2 to obtain authorization regarding the steps to be taken by the members. In line with the decision taken at the board of directors meeting held under the chairmanship of Ali Koç on April 3, the yellow-navy team announced that they would play the match with their U19 team if the match was not postponed and no foreign referee was appointed. Since the TFF did not accept Fenerbahçe’s requests, the yellow-navy team will play tomorrow’s match with their U19 team.
“IT WON’T BE A 90-MINUTE MATCH”
Fenerbahçe Vice President Erol Bilecik, in his statement regarding the Super Cup match before the Adana Demirspor match on Wednesday, April 3, said, “When we say ‘fans shouldn’t go,’ I explain clearly from here that our A team won’t go, and it won’t be a 90-minute match.” The most discussed possibilities include the yellow-navy team taking the field with 9 players according to this statement and 3 players leaving due to injury. In this regard, according to the rules, at least 7 players need to be on the field for the match to continue, and since there will be 6 players in the yellow-navy team, the referee will end the match.
FENERBAHÇE WILL DEPART 3 HOURS BEFORE THE MATCH
The Fenerbahçe squad will arrive in Şanlıurfa approximately 3 hours before the Super Cup match. Unless there is a last-minute change in decision, Fenerbahçe will depart from Istanbul at 4:30 PM on Sunday and land at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport around 6:15 PM. It is expected that names from the board of directors will also be included in the squad.
GALATASARAY WILL BE ON THE FIELD WITH THEIR BEST LINEUP
Following Fenerbahçe’s decision, there is curiosity about which lineup Galatasaray will take to the field. Both coach Okan Buruk and president Dursun Özbek announced that despite Fenerbahçe’s decision to play with their U19 team, Galatasaray will be on the field with their best lineup.
