Jose Mourinho Targets Squad Overhaul at Fenerbahçe Due to New Foreign Player Rule
Fenerbahçe's new head coach, Jose Mourinho, has begun planning the squad for the upcoming season. Due to the foreign player rule, which will limit the number of foreign players to 12 for the 2024-2025 season, Mourinho's first objective is to reduce the number of foreign players.

Jose Mourinho has officially started his tenure at Fenerbahçe and is already working on preparations for the new season. The famous coach is focused on reducing the number of foreign players, given the new rule allowing only 12 foreign players.
According to a report from Record, Mourinho’s primary goal is to adjust the squad to comply with the new foreign player regulation.
Fenerbahçe, currently with 18 foreign players, will need to cut this number to 12 for the upcoming season due to the new rule.
Mourinho plans to part ways with at least six foreign players and wants to bring in new players who fit his philosophy.
The report also mentions that Fenerbahçe is preparing to make significant moves in the player market during the summer transfer window.
In a press conference about transfers, Jose Mourinho stated, “I have never had an interest in any player from my past clubs. I have no interest in anyone from my former club, Roma.”
Additionally, the Portuguese coach mentioned in his conversation with President Ali Koç that their discussions were based on player profiles rather than specific names.
