Fenerbahçe Bids for Boca Juniors Midfielder Cristian Medina with $15 Million Deal
Fenerbahçe has made an offer for Cristian Medina, who plays for the Argentine club Boca Juniors.
At Fenerbahçe, the search for a young and promising midfielder continues in line with the request of head coach Jose Mourinho. At the top of the list is Cristian Medina, who plays for one of Argentina’s biggest clubs, Boca Juniors.
Martin Ribas, an experienced journalist from Radio Buenos Aires, who closely follows developments with Boca, reported that the Yellow Canaries have made a new offer.
Fenerbahçe’s Offer for Medina
Speaking live on Radyospor with Özgür Sancar, Ribas said, “Fenerbahçe’s new offer has reached Boca Juniors. They offered 12 million dollars plus 3 million dollars in bonuses. Additionally, if the next sale exceeds 15 million dollars, 20% of that additional amount will go to Boca.
Boca was asking for an amount close to the 20 million dollar release clause in the player’s contract. Since Fenerbahçe has offered 20% from the next sale, there is a possibility that Boca will accept it.
Boca Has Not Responded to the Offer Yet
Since the offer is new, Boca has not responded yet; however, I think there is a high chance that Fenerbahçe will convince Boca with this new offer.
Medina Wants to Come
Medina already wants to come to Fenerbahçe. He thinks this offer is a very good start for his European career. More importantly, like any young player with high potential, he wants to play in a team coached by Mourinho,” he said.
Performance at Boca Juniors
The central midfielder’s contract with Boca Juniors runs until December 31, 2027. In the 155 matches he has played, he has scored 9 goals and provided 11 assists.
The 22-year-old footballer started his career in Boca Juniors’ youth academy and also plays for the Argentine national team. According to Transfermarkt, the current market value of the midfielder is 10 million euros.
