Fenerbahçe’s Backup Plan for Medina: Velez Sarsfield’s Christian Ordonez
It is claimed that Fenerbahçe has identified an alternative to Cristian Medina, with whom they have reached an agreement for January but have not officially completed the transfer. If the Medina transfer does not go through, the Yellow-Navy Blues are reportedly considering Velez Sarsfield's young player as an alternative.
Fenerbahçe attempted to sign Cristian Medina from Boca Juniors during the summer transfer window but, despite significant efforts, the deal could not be finalized.
The Yellow-Navy Blues, who have reached an agreement with the player for January, have reportedly prepared a backup plan in case of any potential issues.
Speaking to Sabah, Boca Juniors correspondent Lucas Gatti said that Boca Juniors will not sell Medina for less than 15 million euros.
Gatti stated that Fenerbahçe could secure the player if they pay the 15 million euros, adding, “Medina really wanted to join Fenerbahçe at the start of the season. However, when Boca Juniors did not release him, the transfer was postponed to January. Medina still wants to go to Istanbul and wear the Fenerbahçe jersey. However, Fenerbahçe has prepared an alternative in case of any complications.”
Gatti continued by saying, “The alternative name is Argentine Christian Ordonez. The Yellow-Navy Blues are closely monitoring the 20-year-old Velez Sarsfield player.”
Ordonez has made 35 appearances for Velez Sarsfield this season, contributing 1 goal and 4 assists.
