Fenerbahçe’s Upcoming Matches Could Feature Mourinho’s New Setup
Jose Mourinho is gearing up to make a tactical shift at Fenerbahçe. In the recent friendly against Zenit, Mourinho deployed a three-man defense and plans to assign a new role to Dusan Tadic in the updated formation.
Mourinho tested the three-man defense setup during the Zenit match and expressed satisfaction with the players’ performances. When asked post-match if the system would change, he responded: “I think we can do it. Today was a trial run.”
Recalling his experience with this system at Roma, Mourinho added: “It’s a system I know very well, and we could use it again.” Reports suggest that Mourinho plans to experiment further with the three-man defense in the upcoming weeks. According to Sabah Gazetesi, the Portuguese coach intends to adopt this formation in Süper Lig and European matches following the international break.
Tadic Takes on a Key Role
In this new system, Dusan Tadic will play a pivotal role. Positioned centrally behind the striker during the Zenit match, Tadic delivered exactly what Mourinho expected.
Contributing assists for both of Fenerbahçe’s goals against Zenit, Tadic continued his recent upward trajectory and demonstrated his importance to Mourinho’s plans.
