Fenerbahçe Hits Foreign Quota Limit: Which Player Will Be Excluded?
Fenerbahçe, having made significant reinforcements during the winter transfer window, is reportedly set for a surprising decision under head coach José Mourinho. The club may part ways with one of its new signings until the end of the season.
Having added Skriniar, Diego Carlos, Anderson Talisca, and Mimovic to its squad, Fenerbahçe now faces a foreign player quota issue.
With the number of foreign players reaching 15, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) regulations require the club to register only 14 in the official squad list. Due to this limitation, a striking claim has emerged regarding which player could be left out.
According to a report by Haber Global, Fenerbahçe may exclude new signing Mimovic from the TFF list.
The young defender could be loaned out for six months to a club either in Turkey or in a league where the transfer window remains open.
The report also highlights that Mimovic is considered a long-term investment, and Mourinho plans to rely on Mert Müldür and Osayi-Samuel in that position for now.
It is believed that the Portuguese coach thinks Mimovic will need time to adapt to the team, prompting his preference to utilize already-established players in the squad.
