Bright Osayi-Samuel, whose contract with Fenerbahçe expires in June 2025, is at a crossroads with the club.
While it is known that Fenerbahçe and the Nigerian star have not reached an agreement, the Nigerian press has analyzed four key reasons why Osayi-Samuel is unlikely to stay with the Yellow-Navy Blues.
1 – No Agreement on Contract Extension
The report states that Fenerbahçe and Osayi failed to agree on a new contract. Although the club made an offer, Osayi rejected it, as Fenerbahçe’s financial terms did not meet his expectations.
2 – Lost Mourinho’s Trust
Osayi-Samuel was a key player under Jose Mourinho and regularly featured in Fenerbahçe’s starting eleven. However, since the start of 2025, he has lost his place in the squad. Mourinho’s decision to bench Osayi suggests that he is not in the coach’s future plans.
3 – Interest from England
Several English clubs, including Crystal Palace from the Premier League, have shown interest in Osayi. The player is keen to return to England to be closer to his family. With his contract nearing its end, a move to the Premier League or Championship seems highly likely.
4 – Oğuz Aydın’s Rising Form
Since the beginning of the year, Oğuz Aydın has become an indispensable part of the team, impressing Mourinho with his contributions both offensively and defensively. Originally an attacking player, Oğuz has quickly adapted to the right-back position, securing a permanent spot in the starting eleven and effectively replacing Osayi.
Due to contract uncertainties, reduced playing time, and increased competition from in-form players, Osayi-Samuel’s departure from Fenerbahçe this summer appears inevitable.
