Fenerbahçe suffered a 3-1 defeat against Scottish side Rangers in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 at home, putting their chances of reaching the quarter-finals in jeopardy. Fenerbahçe‘s only goal came from Djiku.
After the match, Fenerbahçe players shared their thoughts on the game.
Alexander Djiku expressed his disappointment, saying, “We are disappointed. We couldn’t capitalize on our chances and gave the opponent too many opportunities. We want to get a good result in the second leg. I’m happy to be back with the team, but as a group, we didn’t achieve the result we wanted. Hopefully, we’ll get the outcome we desire in the return match.”
Dusan Tadic also reflected on the match: “We didn’t expect this scoreline. We conceded two very simple goals. They are a good team. We could have done much better in terms of defensive organization. When you make mistakes, you get punished. We will go there to win. Our goal is to advance to the next round.”
