Fenerbahçe in Advanced Talks to Sign Diego Carlos from Aston Villa
With just three days left until the official opening of the winter transfer window, Fenerbahçe has accelerated its efforts to strengthen its defense. Progressing in negotiations with Aston Villa for center-back Diego Carlos, Fenerbahçe aims to leverage a clause in the player’s contract during the transfer talks.

Following season-ending injuries to Jayden Oosterwolde and Rodrigo Becão, Fenerbahçe is determined to bolster its defensive line during the transfer window.
Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç recently stated in a press conference that the club is looking to sign two center-backs and a left-back.
According to a report by Birmingham Live from the British press, the Yellow Canaries are continuing talks to bring Aston Villa’s Brazilian defender Diego Carlos to their squad.
The report highlighted that the 31-year-old player will enter the final year of his contract next summer, and Fenerbahçe is looking to use this as an advantage in their negotiations with Villa.
It was noted that Diego Carlos missed Aston Villa’s recent Premier League match against Leicester City due to injury and is also unavailable for tonight’s FA Cup clash against West Ham.
The experienced defender has played 17 matches this season, clocking 1,403 minutes on the field but has not contributed to his team‘s scoreline. Carlos joined Aston Villa from Sevilla in July 2022 for a transfer fee of €31 million.
