Edin Dzeko: “We are happy to finish in the first place”

Edin Dzeko evaluated the victory; “We had ups and downs in the group stage matches. Especially in the Nordsjælland match, we suffered an undesired defeat, but unfortunately, these things can happen in football. I think we came back strong afterward. I believe we completed the group where we wanted, finishing in the first place. If we had finished second, we would have played a match in February related to the Round of 32, but we finished first. I think the Round of 16 matches will be in March. I believe we did our job well. Overall, today we displayed a good game on the field. Honestly, we could have secured it much earlier. But football is like that. If you underestimate your opponents, they will punish you. But we are happy to finish in the first place.”

Speaking about Ferdi Kadıoğlu, who scored the team’s first goal against Spartak Trnava, Dzeko said, “Ferdi is truly a great player. Today, he showed a really good performance. Similarly, he displayed very high-quality football in the Beşiktaş match. Week by week, he is putting up a better performance and improving. But he is still young. Therefore, he needs to continue working. I think big teams in big leagues are probably watching him. But the crucial thing here is not just the performance in two matches; it’s more about maintaining this performance consistently throughout the season. If he continues to show this performance, I believe big clubs will follow and want him. But, as I mentioned earlier, Fenerbahçe still needs him. I hope he continues this performance.”
