A surprise announcement has come for Fenerbahçe's Polish midfielder Sebastian Szymanski. The German Bundesliga giant Bayer Leverkusen officially announced that the star midfielder is on their transfer list.
Sebastian Szymanski, who started the new season very well in the Super Lig, has been experiencing a decline in his performance recently. The Polish midfielder has failed to contribute a goal or an assist in his last five league appearances. Bayer Leverkusen Academy Sporting Director Slawomir Czarnecki confirmed to Polish press Weszlo that they want to transfer the star player. “We were and still are in contact with Szymanski’s entourage. Our scouts are following Sebastian. Szymanski is potentially a transfer target for Leverkusen.”

Czarniecki continued: “Bayer Leverkusen is currently having a very good season. We are preparing ourselves for the fact that after such great seasons there will always be a few departures. We don’t know in which positions, but Szymanski is potentially a transfer target for Leverkusen. Ultimately, I am not in a position to decide whether Szymanski will go to Leverkusen or not because I am not in charge of the first team. But I can say that we know him well. When we look at Szymanski’s performance in Turkey, we see that he is ready to play big.”
CONTRIBUTED TO 26 GOALS
Fenerbahce’s Polish midfielder has been one of the key players in the title race, even though he has failed to score in the last five matches. The 24-year-old midfielder has scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists in 38 appearances for Fenerbahçe this season, contributing directly to 26 goals.
CURRENT VALUE: 20 MILLION EUROS
In the summer transfer window, the yellow-navy club paid 9.75 million euros to Russian club Dinamo Moscow for the Polish star’s transfer fee. Sebastian Szymanski has managed to increase this value in a short time with his performances in the Turkish Super League and other competitions.
The 24-year-old midfielder has a current market value of €20 million. However, it is possible that Fenerbahce will ask for a higher transfer fee.
