Fenerbahçe Targets Arsenal’s Nketiah
The English press reports that Fenerbahçe is in search of an alternative for Edin Dzeko, whose name has been linked with Saudi Arabian clubs, and has added Arsenal's star to its transfer list. It is claimed that the English striker may also consider leaving the team.
Fenerbahçe, fiercely competing for the championship in the Süper Lig with Galatasaray, is also continuing its efforts to build the squad for the upcoming season.
STRIKING CLAIM FROM THE ENGLISH PRESS
Surprising news regarding Fenerbahçe has emerged from the English press. According to Football Transfers, the yellow-navy blue club has started closely monitoring the situation of Eddie Nketiah at Arsenal for the summer transfer window. The report states that if Edin Dzeko leaves the team at the end of the season, the 24-year-old English striker will be the new forward for Fenerbahçe.
ADDED TO THE TRANSFER LIST
The report mentions, “Dzeko, who came to Fenerbahçe from Inter in 2023, has scored 22 goals in 32 matches in all competitions since then, but he will turn 38 in March and his contract in Istanbul will expire in 2025. Additionally, last summer, Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal offered Dzeko a two-year contract, and the possibility of the player going to Saudi Arabia is on the agenda. As a result, Fenerbahçe has already started looking for an alternative to Dzeko, and Nketiah has been added to the transfer list.”
FAILED TO MAKE THE EXPECTED BREAKTHROUGH
Arsenal’s 24-year-old player has struggled to find playing opportunities this season. Despite Gabriel Jesus’s injury, Nketiah did not start in any Premier League match in 2024. Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard were assigned instead of Nketiah, and the English player may want to leave the team to get more playing time. Nketiah, who has played 163 matches with Arsenal throughout his career, scored 38 goals and provided 10 assists. The star player’s contract expires in 2027.
