Selahattin Baki Confirms Fenerbahçe’s Offer for Vinicius Souza Fell Short
Former Fenerbahçe executive Selahattin Baki made a notable statement about Fenerbahçe's interest in Vinicius Souza, who plays for Sheffield United.
Baki, who is responsible for transfers at Sheffield United, revealed that the yellow and navy blues made an offer for Vinicius Souza.
Selahattin Baki, a former executive of Fenerbahçe, spoke to TRT Spor. Baki discussed Omar Fayed, who was loaned to Beerschot from Fenerbahçe, and Fenerbahçe’s offer for Vinicius Souza from Sheffield United. Here are Selahattin Baki’s statements:
BAKI’S PRAISE FOR OMAR FAYED
Speaking about the Omar Fayed transfer, Baki said, “I have high hopes for Omar Fayed; he is a distinguished talent. When bringing the player to Fenerbahçe, we reviewed scouting reports from some of Europe’s leading clubs. These reports stated that he is a player open to development and could reach significant places in the future. Thanks to the good relations between Fenerbahçe and the player’s representative, we managed to bring Fayed to Turkey. He made a name for himself with the Egyptian National Team at the Paris Olympic Games. Dirk Kuyt was very eager to see him at Beerschot. The Belgian league is also an important platform for players to showcase themselves.”
“THE OFFER FOR VINICIUS SOUZA FELL SHORT OF EXPECTATIONS”
Regarding the rumors of Vinicius Souza’s name being linked with Fenerbahçe, Baki said, “Fenerbahçe made an offer for Vinicius Souza, who plays for Sheffield United. This offer was below the investment that the English club made for the player a year ago. At the same time, Fenerbahçe was in the final stages of the Sofyan Amrabat transfer, and the Moroccan player was at the top of Jose Mourinho‘s list. As the Amrabat transfer was finalized in a short time and the offer for Souza fell below expectations, the player’s transfer did not happen.”
