Sofyan Amrabat Tells Daily Mail: “Fenerbahçe Showed Me Love, Mourinho Was Key”
At Fenerbahçe, Sofyan Amrabat shared that Manchester United's manager Erik ten Hag wanted to keep him at the club, but it didn’t happen.

Speaking about his transfer to Fenerbahçe, Amrabat said, “Fenerbahçe truly made me feel that they really, really wanted me. I felt the love, and it was hard to say no.”
Tonight, Fenerbahçe will host Premier League side Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League.
Before the match, Sofyan Amrabat explained his transfer process to Fenerbahçe in an interview with the Daily Mail.
The experienced player, who spent last season on loan at Manchester United, reflected on that period, saying, “I have a special relationship with Erik ten Hag. He wanted to keep me at Manchester United this summer. I wish him the best, but not for today’s match. I hope they lose. For questions about my departure, you should ask Jason Wilcox (Manchester United’s Football Director).”
Amrabat also highlighted Jose Mourinho‘s role in his decision to join Fenerbahçe: “When Mourinho calls you and you’re his number one target, the situation changes. Fenerbahçe really made me feel that they wanted me. I felt the love, and it was hard to say no. I chose with my heart.”
He added, “Jose Mourinho means success and trophies. I’m convinced of that, and it’s not magic. We need to improve. There are many quality and new players, so we need a bit of time. Even in six months, we might not be perfect, but in football, we need time to create something special.”
