RED CARD IN THE 20TH SECOND
In the UEFA qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, Group I, one of the earliest red cards in football history was issued during the match between Andorra and Poland. Ricard Fernandez of Andorra was sent off in the 20th second of the match following a foul he committed just 12 seconds into play.
After the kickoff and a few passes, Poland’s defense launched a high ball forward. Fernandez, who jumped for the header, was shown a red card by Scottish referee John Beaton after elbowing his opponent in the face.
