Mourinho’s Frustration: “Too Many Errors, Too Little Creativity”
Fenerbahçe played to a 1-1 draw against Eyüpspor in the Süper Lig, marking their fifth instance of dropped points this season. Head coach José Mourinho shared his thoughts on the match.

In the Trendyol Süper Lig‘s Week 17 opener, Fenerbahçe managed to salvage a point against Eyüpspor after falling behind. The Yellow-Navy Blues narrowed the gap with league leaders Galatasaray to five points, albeit having played an extra match.
Speaking to beIN SPORTS, Mourinho expressed his dissatisfaction with the game:
“It was a disastrous match. I don’t know how much actual football was played. How many times did players lie on the ground? The quality of the game was very low. There were too many mistakes. While I am not responsible for the match itself, I am responsible for my team. We made far too many technical errors. Our build-up play was poor, we lacked creativity, and we couldn’t create major opportunities. We lost possession in critical moments and gave the opponent counterattacks. It was a bad performance overall, riddled with individual mistakes. In the second half, we were much better; we utilized the flanks effectively. Still, it was a weak showing from us.”
Addressing the rest of the season, Mourinho continued:
“We’re entering the break now, but I’m not satisfied with our current state. Whether things improve or not depends on the players. To be honest, I would prefer if we didn’t have this break. It’s crucial for rest, but mathematically, your position is determined by results. Everyone deserves more, but the players need to give more as well. Some aspects of playing in Turkey are challenging. I’ve encountered situations here that I’ve never seen in my long career—like what happened in the tunnel during halftime. It’s tough. Players who have been here longer need to adapt, and new players must adjust to these circumstances.
Our club provides the best conditions for the players. I know my own quality, and I know the quality of our staff. We offer the best possible training for our players. If you ask me what I expect from my team in the second half of the season, it’s exactly that—more and better.”
