Rangers’ Leon Balogun Praises Mourinho: “A Huge Character in Football”

Rangers' experienced player Leon Balogun, who will face Fenerbahçe in the UEFA Europa League, praised the Yellow-Navy Blues' head coach, Jose Mourinho.

Balogun stated, “He is a very, very big character. He is a great coach in the football world, and his name commands a lot of respect.”

In the Europa League Round of 16, Fenerbahçe will host Scottish Premiership side Rangers on Thursday, March 6.

Following Rangers’ weekend defeat to Motherwell in the Scottish League, Balogun shared his thoughts on the upcoming Fenerbahçe match and Jose Mourinho.

Speaking about Mourinho, Balogun said: “I think I’ve only played against Mourinho once. It was my first match in the Premier League, and at that time, he was managing Manchester United. We won 3-2 with Brighton, so it’s a great memory. He is a very, very big character. He is a great coach in the football world, and his name commands a lot of respect.”

Balogun continued: “Personally, I enjoy his press conferences. Many people call him arrogant, but I think he is a very special character. I also believe football needs a few unique personalities to keep it entertaining.”

Regarding the Fenerbahçe match, Balogun stated: “To get a result, we need to take at least two big steps starting today. Playing European football again in a week might help us. This is a big chance, a great opportunity. We need to give everything on the pitch. We should always do that, but now even more so.”
