TFF Confirms: No Foreign Referee for Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe Derby
As discussions continue over the possibility of a foreign referee for the Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby in Week 25 of the Trendyol Süper Lig, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has issued a clear statement on the matter. TFF Board Member Ural Aküzüm made noteworthy remarks regarding the referee for the highly anticipated clash.

Debates over the match official for the Galatasaray–Fenerbahçe derby, scheduled for Monday, February 24, at 8:00 pm, are ongoing.
While the discussions about appointing a foreign referee for the big match persist, the TFF has made its first definitive statement on the subject.
In an interview with Ekol TV, TFF Board Member Ural Aküzüm confirmed that a Turkish referee will officiate the Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby.
Stating that the appointment of a foreign referee is not on their agenda, Aküzüm said, “Until the end of the 2024-2025 football season, Turkish referees will serve as the main referees in Turkey.”
He concluded by saying, “There was a request from the Clubs Association and the public for foreign VAR referees, and that decision was made collectively.”
