“The Emperor” of Fenerbahçe, Oğuz Çetin, Hospitalized

Oğuz Çetin, one of Fenerbahçe’s legendary figures, has been hospitalized.

Çetin was admitted to the hospital and placed in intensive care after suffering a blood clot in his brain.

Who is Oğuz Çetin?

During his playing career, Oğuz Çetin wore the jerseys of Sakaryaspor, Fenerbahçe, İstanbulspor, and Adanaspor. He became one of Fenerbahçe’s legendary players during his eight-year tenure with the club. The 61-year-old, nicknamed “The Emperor” during his playing days, was a key figure in Fenerbahçe’s historic 1988-1989 championship-winning squad that scored 103 goals in a single season.

Following his retirement as a player, Çetin worked as an assistant coach and coach at Fenerbahçe. He also managed several clubs, including Kayseri Erciyesspor, Gençlerbirliği, Diyarbakırspor, Boluspor, Hazar Lankaran, and Büyükşehir Gaziantepspor.

Additionally, he served as an assistant coach for the Turkish National Team and most recently worked as the national team’s development director from 2019 to 2024.

In recent years, Oğuz Çetin had been working as a football pundit on television.
