Fenerbahçe’s Mert Hakan Yandaş made statements before the UEFA Conference League match against Union Saint-Gilloise.
“We want to take the tour with the same discipline”
Expressing the desire to play with the same discipline in the second match, Mert Hakan Yandaş said, “We want to take our country to April as Fenerbahçe. That’s the focal point for our community. The good outcome of the first match is pleasing. We played against a good team with very good players. We did not expect a 3-0 result. This advantage does not indicate the end of the tour. Tomorrow, we want to take the tour with the same discipline,” he said.
“I am delighted to score goals consecutively for two weeks”
Talking about his consecutive goals, Mert Hakan said, “In training, all players do shooting exercises specifically. Maybe that’s why we are ahead in the number of goals scored from outside the penalty area. I am delighted to score goals consecutively for two weeks. More importantly, the team winning is more crucial. Hopefully, it will continue like this,” he said.
“I will continue to experience the same joy”
Speaking about his celebration in the Pendikspor match, Mert Hakan said, “I want to focus entirely on the game. It’s a joy I have continued to express for my own club. I will continue to celebrate in the same way. I did not target anyone. My respect for everyone in football is infinite,” he said.
“If we were to become champions, I really wanted my name to be mentioned in this story.”
Talking about returning to the squad, Mert Hakan said, “I had a very good season with our coach in the previous season. I think I fulfilled what the coach wanted in the right way. I started this season well too but with an injury. The subsequent periods were very exhausting. The infamous Kayserispor match… The injury was very serious, lasting for 2 months. I didn’t know how I would get through that process. After that, talks of separation began. There was 3.5 seasons of effort here. I didn’t want to give up, I wanted to stay. Our coach and I had a dialogue like ‘You will answer when the time comes.’ The process of getting playing time started with the Adana match. I worked hard; I had to give something to redeem myself. If we were to become champions, I really wanted my name to be mentioned in this story,” he said.
