Controversial Referee Halil Umut Meler, Friend of Galatasaray’s Okan Buruk, Assigned to Fenerbahçe Match
The referees for Week 20 of the Trendyol Süper Lig have been announced. The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has revealed the officials assigned to the upcoming matches in the league.
According to the TFF‘s announcement, Halil Umut Meler will officiate Fenerbahçe‘s away game against Adana Demirspor on Sunday. The match is scheduled to kick off at 19:00.
Last season, Halil Umut Meler was physically attacked on the field by the president of Ankaragücü. The controversial referee is also known to be a close friend of Galatasaray‘s head coach, Okan Buruk.
