At the start of the second half, Ali Koç went to support the away fans who were not allowed into the stands. The Göztepe fans reacted to Koç’s presence in the stands. While Koç was heading to the VIP section, he was attacked on the sidelines. The match was stopped briefly and resumed after security was established.

After the match, Fenerbahçe’s İsmail Yüksek expressed his anger over the incidents.

İsmail Yüksek said, “There is actually a lot to say. What is this hostility? They are using pepper spray against our fans. The president is attacked. I don’t understand. Fenerbahçe is being dragged into chaos again. These events affected us.”
