Fenerbahçe Monitors Foreign Quota as Transfer Deadline Approaches
The transfer window in the Süper Lig closes on September 13. As the summer transfer window nears its end, Fenerbahçe has not exceeded the 14 foreign player limit.
While Fenerbahçe continues its transfer activities with the goal of winning the league, the club is also parting ways with players who are not in the plans for the squad.
To make the best use of the 14-player foreign quota, Fenerbahçe is carefully selecting its moves. The transfer window for UEFA competitions has closed, but the Süper Lig transfer period remains open until Friday, September 13.
Starting the new season with Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, Fenerbahçe is gradually offloading foreign players who are not part of his plans. The Yellow-Navy Blues, who have built a competitive squad to challenge in both Europe and the league, have opted for selective reinforcements without making many changes to the roster.
The squad has been strengthened with French winger Allan Saint-Maximin and Moroccan players Youssef En-Nesyri and Sofyan Amrabat. Meanwhile, Fenerbahçe has parted ways with players not considered for the team. Alongside Michy Batshuayi, who did not renew his contract for the new season, Fenerbahçe decided not to continue with Joshua King, Rade Krunic, Miguel Crespo, Luan Peres, Miha Zajc, and Joao Pedro. At the end of last season, Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci also decided to retire.
Fenerbahçe currently has 14 foreign players in its squad. Before the transfer window closes, the club is expected to make reinforcements in the ‘number 8‘ and left-back positions. It is also reported that Fenerbahçe will soon part ways with Omar Fayed.
The current situation of the foreign quota at Fenerbahçe, along with the incoming and outgoing players, is as follows:
FOREIGN PLAYERS IN THE SQUAD: Dominik Livakovic, Alexander Djiku, Rodrigo Becao, Omar Fayed, Jayden Oosterwolde, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Sofyan Amrabat, Fred, Sebastian Szymanski, Allan Saint-Maximin, Dusan Tadic, Ryan Kent, Youssef En-Nesyri, Edin Dzeko.
