Jose Mourinho on Fenerbahçe’s 3-1 Derby Loss: “We Missed, They Didn’t”

Fenerbahçe head coach Jose Mourinho made statements following their 3-1 loss in the Galatasaray derby. Mourinho said, "It may sound like a foolish answer, but they won because they scored more goals than us."

Jose spoke after the , saying that they failed to capitalize on the opportunities they created.

The Portuguese coach used the following statements:

“THEY SCORED 3, WE SCORED 1”

“It may sound like a foolish answer, but they won because they scored more goals than us. It doesn’t matter how many chances we created. It doesn’t matter how many we missed. The only thing that matters is that today they scored 3 goals, and we scored 1.

We started the match fast, we dominated, but it doesn’t matter. After 3-1, we risked everything, but it doesn’t matter. How much we missed doesn’t matter. We only managed to score from the penalty spot. They won because they scored more goals.”

“I CAN’T ACCEPT BLAMING THE SUBSTITUTES”

“Amrabat had a very good second half. He played excellently as a false, hybrid center-back. He provided the fluidity that was missing in the first half. İrfan and En-Nesyri also did their best. En-Nesyri had a chance too but couldn’t score. I can’t accept blaming the substitutes.”

“OUR OPPONENT SCORED FROM 2 THROW-INS”

“Our opponent scored from 2 throw-ins, which was our mistake. I don’t think Galatasaray played much better or vastly superior to us, but they converted their chances, and we didn’t.”
