Sofyan Amrabat: “Our Dream is to Win the Europa League”

Fenerbahçe is set to host Union Saint-Gilloise in the first match of the UEFA Europa League season. Prior to the game, Sofyan Amrabat shared his thoughts.

Here are Amrabat’s comments:

“WE MUST SHOW A REACTION”

“Tomorrow, we will play a very important match. At the same time, we have a chance to respond. Of course, the last few days have been extremely challenging for us. We lost a crucial and big match at home. When I entered the stadium, when I stepped onto the field, I honestly felt that the fans had created an incredible atmosphere and gave us everything in terms of support. We need to offer them something new in return, to make them happy. Naturally, we are deeply disappointed by the result we got. We must show a reaction. Therefore, we aim to make them happy with a victory.”

“WE ARE MORE THAN READY TO FIGHT”

“Our coach Jose Mourinho was also deeply disappointed with the result. In my opinion, what he was saying was that we could overcome this situation within ourselves, that we could remain as a family. In general, that’s what he said. We, too, need to show a reaction. That’s what our coach emphasized, that we need to respond. Tomorrow, we will give our best. We need to deliver a strong performance to make our fans and the Fenerbahçe community happy. We really want to win. Starting the Europa League with a win will be motivating and good for us. We are more than ready to fight and give our all.”

“I FEEL READY”

“I haven’t been here for long, and every new player needs time when joining a new team. So, this time is available for the new arrivals. I’ve played in Italy and England before, but this is a different place. I can’t say there’s a lot of time to adapt because I need to adapt to my team as soon as possible. When the coach asks me to play, I have to give my best. I can already say that I feel ready at this point. I was with Fiorentina during pre-season. I continued my training there. I played in Serie A, I played in the Europa Conference League qualifiers. So in that sense, I feel ready. I’m eagerly waiting for the matches I will play in the future. I’m not someone who likes to talk about myself, I prefer to show myself through my performance on the field.”

“I LIKE THIS PRESSURE”

“I feel ready to adapt to everything. As a footballer, you need to be prepared for what happens on the field. The only thing you can do is try to adapt to the pace of what happens on the pitch. We are Fenerbahçe players. There may be a lot of pressure here, but in a way, I like this pressure; it makes me happy. Our goal and desire should always be to win as a team. So, no matter who we play against, we need to show this and demonstrate this mentality. I think that’s what we should focus on. Every day, we need to work harder and improve ourselves, and go into every match aiming to win. We need to win those matches. In my opinion, that’s the key, because you can’t control everything on the field, you might not have authority over every situation, but your focus should always be on yourself, doing your best.”

“OUR DREAM IS TO WIN THIS TOURNAMENT”

“I’m always a player who wants to give my maximum. I need to be careful with what I say in front of the media, but of course, our dream is to win this tournament. However, winning it depends on many things. We are Fenerbahçe players, and we want to win every match. We want to win trophies. After all, the most beautiful thing in football is winning trophies. We will start with tomorrow’s match, and we need to think game by game. Every day, we need to improve ourselves. We need to show our fight to reach the highest level. Hopefully, we can achieve this because we are a strong team. So, we need to act with a great team mentality. Of course, we dream of winning the cup. We also want to make our fans happy. Hopefully, we will reach our dreams.”
