Jose Mourinho Targets VAR: “No Offside, Clean Goal” in Fenerbahçe Victory
Fenerbahçe head coach Jose Mourinho spoke after their victory over Antalyaspor. Regarding placing his laptop in front of the camera, Mourinho said, "There was no offside, that's why I placed the footage in front of the camera. The opposing team's left-back was breaking the offside trap. From our perspective, it was a clear goal."
In the 7th week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Antalyaspor hosted Fenerbahçe. The yellow-dark blue team won the match 2-0.
After the match, Fenerbahçe head coach Jose Mourinho made some statements.
Regarding the laptop he placed in front of the camera, Mourinho said: “There was no offside, that’s why I showed the footage in front of the camera. From our perspective, it was a clean goal.”
RESPONSE TO SZYMANSKI CRITICISM
The Fenerbahçe coach continued, “Szymanski is the kind of player who, even when it seems like he’s not contributing, works hard. He’s a very important player. He contributes to the press for 90 minutes. He makes deep runs. He’s always an important player for us.”
CRITICISM OF VAR
Mourinho added: “We have a lot of things to work on. We need to establish a fixed mentality. Today we played a tough match. Alex had his team very well organized. They studied how to defend against us well. It was an easy match for VAR. They were able to make many decisions within 5 seconds.”
