Mourinho’s Post-Match Press Conference: Performance, Penalty Decisions, and Transfers After Kayserispor Victory
Fenerbahçe Head Coach Jose Mourinho shared his thoughts after the 6-2 victory over Kayserispor, saying, "We scored 6 goals, but we could have scored 10." When asked about Anderson Talisca, Mourinho responded, "I don't know anything. All I know is that I am very happy with my players."
Responding to Galatasaray Vice President Metin Öztürk’s comments, Mourinho said, “If the vice president of Galatasaray thinks the penalty was unreasonable, we encounter unreasonable things in Galatasaray’s matches every week.”
In the 13th week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Fenerbahçe defeated Kayserispor 6-2 away.
After the match, Mourinho evaluated the 90 minutes:
“WE COULD HAVE SCORED 10 GOALS”
On the Kayserispor match, Mourinho said, “We conceded a goal, and that was due to some ball losses. We lost possession during build-up play. We conceded a bad goal from a corner. We scored 6 goals but could have scored 10. So I see it as a good win, especially considering we played against a team that performed well and positively. They had about 2 weeks to prepare for this match, while we only had two days. So I view it as a good win.”
“THEY RESPOND IN THE BEST WAY WHEN THEY PLAY”
Regarding players with limited playing time, Mourinho said, “This is actually their responsibility. They train well and prepare excellently. They deserve credit. Sometimes I feel bad for players I can’t field, but when they do play, they respond in the best way. Cenk Tosun and Rodrigo Becao were also on the bench. For us, working hard is like a belief. I would also like to thank İrfan Can Kahveci. He wasn’t ready, but he told me, ‘Take me if needed, I can play 10-15 minutes.’ We didn’t need that, but I appreciate his support for the team.”
TALISCA RESPONSE
On transfer rumors regarding Anderson Talisca, Mourinho said, “I don’t know anything. All I know is that I am very happy with my players.”
“WE ENCOUNTER UNREASONABLE THINGS IN GALATASARAY MATCHES”
Responding to Metin Öztürk’s comments about the penalty decision, Mourinho said, “I can’t comment on the penalty situation. I didn’t have the chance to watch it on a tablet or TV. From where I was sitting on the bench, it looked like a penalty. Honestly, I couldn’t watch it. If the Vice President of Galatasaray thinks the penalty was unreasonable, we encounter unreasonable things in Galatasaray’s matches every week. For instance, their next opponent had three players on the card threshold, yet they can receive a fourth yellow card.”
CRISTIANO RONALDO AND TRANSFER STATEMENT
Mourinho also addressed the upcoming winter transfer window, saying about Cristiano Ronaldo, “Maybe one day he will come for lunch. Istanbul is almost in the middle of Arabia and Portugal. He could hop on his private jet, come see his old friend José, and we’ll have lunch. If you’re asking if he’ll play for Fenerbahçe, either they don’t know what they are writing, or those who make these news stories enjoy making nonsense reports. If we bring a player in January, they have to be a very good one. I’m very happy with the players I have. I remember how Oğuz Aydın was when he first arrived, and I see Levent’s development. We are facing a domestic player issue in UEFA. I care about that. If something happens in the winter transfer window, the player has to be very good because I am very satisfied with the players I have.”
