Jose Mourinho Retains Full Support from Fenerbahçe Board
After losing the derby to Beşiktaş and suffering a blow in the championship race, Fenerbahçe's head coach Jose Mourinho faced criticism. However, the Fenerbahçe board has decided to fully back Mourinho.
In the 15th week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Fenerbahçe lost 1-0 to Beşiktaş in the derby, falling six points behind league leaders Galatasaray, who defeated Sivasspor.
Mourinho‘s starting eleven in the Beşiktaş derby drew criticism from fans and pundits.
Despite this, the Fenerbahçe board announced their unwavering support for the Portuguese coach.
According to Milliyet newspaper, Fenerbahçe’s executives have full confidence in Mourinho.
Club president Ali Koç, when asked if he had a message for the fans following the Beşiktaş loss, responded, “Our biggest message is this: we will be champions.”
The report also revealed that Fenerbahçe players held a meeting among themselves after the derby, emphasizing the need to make up for the lost points in the coming weeks.
Fenerbahçe will face Athletic Bilbao in the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday, December 11, and will host Başakşehir in the Süper Lig on Sunday, December 15.
