Aziz Yıldırım to Fans: “Let’s Unite for the Championship!”
Former Fenerbahçe president Aziz Yıldırım expressed his belief that the yellow-dark blue team will become champions this season. Aziz Yıldırım emphasized the importance of fans supporting the team despite recent poor results.
In a statement titled “Fenerbahçe Never Gives Up” shared on his social media account, Yıldırım said:
“Recently, I have been saddened to see my name being used on certain platforms following the unfavorable results of our football team. First and foremost, I must say that the current performance of our team, like every fan, deeply disappoints me. However, our community must never forget that it is not too late for anything. In past seasons, such as the 2003-2004 campaign, our football team fell 8 points behind its closest rival and seemed to lose its claim for the title. But during those times, the unity and solidarity of our community allowed us to reach the championship together. Similarly, in the 2010-2011 season, one of the most valuable championships in our glorious history, we came back from a 9-point deficit to win the league and subsequently endured the ‘July 3 Conspiracy.’”
“I RESPECT THE CRITICISM”
Yıldırım continued:
“This year, our football team is not in a worse situation than it was in those years. The point gap is not greater than it was back then. Fenerbahçe’s history is full of success stories achieved through unity and solidarity because Fenerbahçe never gives up. Today is that day. Today is the day to unite, to support our team with all our strength, and to dedicate all our energy to this cause. While I believe every Fenerbahçe fan has the right to praise success and critique failure, I find it inappropriate as a Fenerbahçe member to see the club‘s internal politics brought into play just 15 weeks into the season. In this regard, I am saddened by the use of my name in internal political discussions within the club.”
Highlighting the need to support the team and management, Yıldırım said:
“Today, Fenerbahçe has an elected president and management, and without a doubt, they are dedicating their time and efforts with the best intentions for our team. Our duty, as members of the world‘s most unique community, is to support our club and refrain from any behavior that could harm our team’s championship efforts. My family and I think and live this way. I kindly ask my dear Fenerbahçe brothers and sisters to share this sentiment and attitude with me.”
Yıldırım concluded his remarks by saying:
“I hope that today’s match against İstanbul Başakşehir will be a turning point on our path to the championship. My young daughter Yaz, who is small in age but big at heart as a Fenerbahçe supporter, will also participate in the pre-match ceremony. I wish for our victory to crown her excitement with happiness, and I extend my best wishes to our team for success in all their remaining matches.”
