In his post-match statement, Mourinho said:
“We needed to respect Kasımpaşa’s players. We analyzed their match against a 2nd division team, anticipating a similar scenario. I congratulated them for their effort after the match, including their coach and players. During the game, we did what was necessary. Their young players fought well and will use this as a learning experience. It was a great opportunity for them.”

Continuing his comments, Mourinho added:
“My players need to showcase different approaches on the field. Sometimes we play with three at the back, sometimes four. Football is not what it used to be years ago, and I want to instill this adaptability in my team. I congratulated Kasımpaşa’s players as they gave everything they had against us. We played the game respectfully and didn’t aim for a higher score. They managed to stop us effectively. While they didn’t have much to offer offensively, they defended well and fought hard.”
On the Foreign VAR Decision
Commenting on the Turkish Football Federation’s decision to introduce foreign VAR officials, Mourinho said:
“The foreign VAR decision cannot be worse than what we had before because it’s impossible for it to get any worse. So, I view this positively. Let’s wait and see.”
