Goalkeeper Eğribayat Calls for Fan Support Ahead of Sunday’s Key Match vs. Göztepe

Fenerbahçe drew 0-0 with French side Olympique Lyon in the seventh week of the UEFA Europa League. Fenerbahçe’s goalkeeper İrfan Can Eğribayat made statements after the match.

Commemorating those who lost their lives in the Bolu fire, Eğribayat said:
“There has been a wildfire disaster in our country. I pray for mercy for those who lost their lives. I hope such incidents never happen again in our country, or if they do, I hope they cause less damage.”

“IF WE WIN THE NEXT MATCH, WE CAN ADVANCE”

Evaluating the match, the goalkeeper stated:
“As for the game, they play possession football very well. We managed to counter that with strong effort. We also created goal opportunities and could have scored. With the new format, we don’t know how many points will be enough. Even 1 point is good. If we win the next match, I think we will advance.”

“FENERBAHÇE SUPPORTED ME IN A DIFFICULT TIME”

Speaking about his performance, the 26-year-old goalkeeper said:
“Regarding my performance, I do my best. It’s tough for a goalkeeper not to play, and I haven’t played since last March. I also missed the preseason camp due to a personal loss over the summer. Fenerbahçe extended a hand to me when I was in a very difficult situation at Göztepe. Our fans give me a lot of support, and I love them very much. They will always see a fighting İrfan on the pitch. We have an important match on Sunday, and we are counting on their support in that game as well.”
