Fenerbahçe Rejects Marcus Rashford Offer: Acun Ilıcalı Explains Why
Fenerbahçe Vice President Acun Ilıcalı made statements to Sky Sports regarding English winger Marcus Rashford, who was sidelined at Manchester United and linked with the yellow-and-navy club.
Ilıcalı praised Rashford as a fantastic player, stating, “However, it doesn’t make sense to have two players in the same position who are very similar. These kinds of players need to play regularly. If Rashford were to join, the other player wouldn’t get playing time. Rashford was offered to us, but unfortunately, we had to say ‘no’ when the opportunity came to us. Mourinho also didn’t put any pressure on us, like saying, ‘I want this player.’ So, we have no connection with this transfer. The reports in the media do not reflect the truth. Rashford is a good player, but I can very comfortably say that we are not interested in him.”
The 27-year-old English forward, who earns 18 million Euros annually, still has 3.5 years left on his contract with his club.
