Mourinho Addresses Injuries in Post-Match Press Conference: “We Must Stay Positive”

Fenerbahçe’s head coach, Jose Mourinho, made statements following the team‘s 2-0 victory over Alanyaspor in the 23rd week of the Trendyol Süper Lig.

Fenerbahçe defeated Alanyaspor away with goals in the first half, securing the win. After the match, Mourinho addressed the criticism regarding Fenerbahçe‘s performance in the first half.

In response to the question about the criticism that his team “didn’t play well in the first halves,” Mourinho said, “They will always find something else to criticize. I don’t care about that. What matters to me is my relationship with the players. We don’t cry over injuries. We will keep fighting and staying united.”

“We Need to Be More Practical”

Continuing his comments, the Portuguese coach said, “Last year at this time, we had 26 muscle injuries. This year, we have 12. We can say we’re in a better situation. We need to be more practical. We need to be more positive.”

In the post-match press conference, Fenerbahçe’s Head Coach Jose Mourinho called for a positive mindset.

The Portuguese coach said, “Today we lost İsmail and Çağlar, they got injured. But Yusuf and Mert are returning from injury. Therefore, we are trying to stay positive about this issue. I always believe that when one player gets injured, it opens the door for another player to play. I trust the team and the players in the team. There are times in football when such injuries happen.

We need to stay positive. The club put a lot of effort into the transfer window to bring in some new players. These injuries are not as short as a day or a week, but they will return. None of the injuries we’ve had recently will last throughout the season. So, we need to try to stay positive.”
