Former Fenerbahçe President Tahsin Kaya has been laid to rest

A ceremony was held for Tahsin Kaya, the deceased former president of Fenerbahçe. Fenerbahçe Club President Ali Koç, club officials, Şenes Erzik (Honorary President of the Turkish Football Federation), UEFA Executive Committee Member Servet Yardımcı, former athletes, the family, and loved ones of the late Tahsin Kaya attended the ceremony at Dereağzı Lefter Küçükandonyadis Facilities.

ALI KOÇ: FENERBAHÇE CAME FIRST FOR HIM ABOVE ALL

Speaking at the ceremony, Fenerbahçe Club President Ali Koç expressed the gratitude of the yellow-navy community for Tahsin Kaya’s services. Ali Koç recalled the legendary championship of the 1988-1989 season, during Tahsin Kaya’s presidency, where 103 goals were scored, saying:

“The president of the legendary championship in 1989, the architect of the championship. He had significant contributions over six years above me and us. He was a very special person to me. Unconditionally, Fenerbahçe came first for him. He was not one who existed for Fenerbahçe but one who existed for Fenerbahçe. He never tried to highlight himself, always stood by us in our times of need. He acted as a wise person, sometimes guiding, sometimes acting like an elder brother, never leaving us alone. Even when things were going very badly, and the pressure from the community turned into a storm, he never gave up on us. Unfortunately, he couldn’t attend our matches this season due to health problems. Thank you to him for the support he gave me, us, and Fenerbahçe for six years. My condolences to his family, the Fenerbahçe community, and Turkish sports. May he rest in peace.”

ALI İHSAN KAYA: THANKFUL TO EVERYONE

Honorary President of the Turkish Football Federation, Şenes Erzik, expressed the loss of someone they dearly loved and respected. Fenerbahçe General Secretary Burak Çağlan Kızılhan emphasized Tahsin Kaya’s significant contributions to the club. Ali İhsan Kaya, the late Tahsin Kaya’s son, expressed deep emotions due to the ceremony, saying, “Everyone has already said everything about him. Thanks to everyone who contributed to him becoming the president of this club, to the players who contributed to the championship during that period, to the technical staff, and everyone in this club.” After the ceremony, Tahsin Kaya’s body was taken to the Central Mosque in Geyve, Sakarya, for funeral prayers.

HE LED THE TEAM IN HISTORIC CHAMPIONSHIP

Tahsin Kaya, who served as the president of Fenerbahçe Club from 1986 to 1989, was at the helm during the 1988-1989 season when the yellow-navy team became champions by scoring 103 goals.
