Fenerbahçe Club President Ali Koç hosted UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin
According to the statement from the yellow-blue club, the organization held in Ortaköy was attended by Mehmet Büyükekşi, the President of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), Theodore Theodoridis, the General Secretary of UEFA, Servet Yardımcı, a member of the UEFA Executive Committee, Zoran Lakovic, the Director of UEFA National Associations, Fethi Pekin, a board member of Fenerbahçe, as well as UEFA and TFF officials.
Speaking to FB TV after the event, UEFA President Ceferin said, “I had promised my friend Ali Koç that I would come here one day, and promises must be kept. Secondly, I love Istanbul and coming here very much. Fenerbahçe is a great club, and the UEFA Europa Conference League has been a competitive and fantastic competition. I am looking forward to tonight’s match.”
President Koç also noted Ceferin’s fondness for Istanbul, saying, “He has had a promise for three years to come and watch a Fenerbahçe match, and today it happened. Hopefully, he brings good luck. He is doing great things for European football, and hopefully, he will continue to do great things until the end of his term. Turkey, the Turkish Football Federation, and my position in the European Club Association (ECA) have very close relations with Fenerbahçe. He has always guided us and helped us. We are very happy and honored to host him here.”
UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin will watch tonight’s UEFA Europa Conference League round of 16 second leg match between Fenerbahçe and Belgian representative Union Saint-Gilloise at Ülker Stadium.
