Fenerbahçe Reacts Strongly to Trabzon Mayor Candidate’s Accusations!
Fenerbahçe Club has issued a strong statement in response to Trabzon Municipality Mayor Candidate Ahmet Metin Genç, who leveled serious allegations against Fenerbahçe during a press conference organized by Trabzonspor in collaboration with politicians.
Here’s Fenerbahçe‘s statement:
Ahmet Metin Genç, Mayor of Ortahisar and Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Candidate, has incited outrage with his statements during the press conference organized by Trabzonspor.
Ahmet Metin Genç, seeking to gain political advantage in the political competition by trying to garner votes through football, has acted with an understanding that deems any means justifiable to win, targeting two of Turkey’s most rooted institutions.
By disregarding the decisions of the Republic of Turkey’s courts, he becomes part of a dangerous game and openly uses arguments of the terrorist organization concerning our July 3rd case, which is clearly an FETÖ plot.
We remind the politician, who is the proponent of divisive statements to the public, that:
The terrorist organization he utilizes in his arguments has subjected our country to numerous plots targeting our national values, first and foremost, with the December 17-25 operations and the July 15 coup attempts, aiming at the existence and unity of our state, targeting our President and his family.
The statements made by the said politician constitute a crime both in terms of Law No. 6222 and the Turkish Penal Code (TCK).
Moreover, these statements also violate the ethical rules set by FIFA.
Within the framework of these violations, considering the agenda of FIFA, and given the Turkish Football Federation’s previous precedents, there is a high risk of facing severe penalties.
Beyond all this, this press conference has been the clearest indication of the distortion in the relationship between politics and football, which we, as Fenerbahçe Sports Club, have repeatedly pointed out.
We have always emphasized that the sports community should remain above politics. While we will never compromise on our stance regarding this issue, we believe that politicians should also show the same sensitivity.
Necessary legal actions have been taken against Ahmet Metin Genç, who has made statements exceeding the limits about Fenerbahçe Sports Club.
