Acun Ilıcalı Reveals Massive Revenue Projects for Fenerbahçe, Addresses Benzema Speculations
Businessman Acun Ilıcalı, listed in Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç’s new board of directors, announced that he has three projects that will generate an annual income of 40-50 million Euros for the club. Ilıcalı also commented on Fenerbahçe's upcoming transfers and addressed the rumors about Benzema.

New Structure in Fenerbahçe’s Football Department
Speaking on TV 100’s program “Az Önce Konuştum,” Ilıcalı mentioned that if they win the regular general assembly election on June 9th, the new structure of Fenerbahçe’s football department would involve “President Ali Koç at the forefront, along with me, Mario Branco, Ahmet Ketenci, and Jose Mourinho leading the football division.”
Mario Branco’s Role in Mourinho’s Transfer
Ilıcalı highlighted the involvement of Mario Branco in bringing Jose Mourinho to Fenerbahçe, stating that “Mario Branco proposed the idea to our president two months ago. The initial contact and meeting were facilitated by our president and Branco. Despite interest from Beşiktaş and others, it was Branco who successfully completed the deal, and it was Ali Koç who assigned Branco to finalize it.”
Mourinho’s Aim for European Success
Ilıcalı shared that Mourinho was impressed by Fenerbahçe’s potential during a derby against Galatasaray, noting, “Mourinho was significantly affected by the team’s performance, especially playing with ten men. He sees great potential in the players but, of course, wants to bring in new talent to achieve success in Europe.”
Exciting Transfer Talks
Discussing transfers, Ilıcalı revealed, “We have initiated contact with significant names 3-4 days ago. Mourinho has approved the candidates, and serious work has begun. The names we’re discussing are exciting.”
No Benzema on the List
When asked if Benzema was among the names, Ilıcalı responded, “Benzema is not on the list.”
Refuting Aziz Yıldırım’s Claims
Ilıcalı denied former President Aziz Yıldırım’s statements about Mourinho, saying, “Yıldırım’s claims about Mourinho are completely false. They couldn’t contact Mourinho for three days after our discussions. He changed his phone. There was no agreement. They only managed to get an appointment and meet in London.”
Upcoming Meeting with Mourinho
Ilıcalı added, “After this, our president and I will have a final meeting with Mourinho. We have about a two-hour meeting left. Mourinho will head to London tomorrow, and I will accompany him before moving on to Hull for a press conference.”
Three Projects to Generate 40-50 Million Euros Annually
Ilıcalı concluded by mentioning his plans to motivate top-level Fenerbahçe supporters and share his projects, saying, “I have three projects in mind that will generate 40-50 million Euros annually. One of these projects, related to media, is expected to bring in 15-20 million Euros each year.”
