Commemorative Coin Minted in Honor of Fenerbahçe Legend Lefter Küçükandonyadis

In memory of Lefter Küçükandonyadis, one of the legendary names in Fenerbahçe and Turkish football, nicknamed "Ordinaryüs," a commemorative coin was minted by the General Directorate of Mint and Stamp Printing of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Treasury and Finance.

According to the statement made by , the commemorative coin minted in memory of Lefter was introduced at the General Directorate of Mint and Stamp Printing located in Beşiktaş. The introduction was attended by Abdullah Yasir Şahin, the General Director of the Mint and Stamp Printing General Directorate of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Selman Arınç, the of the , Museum, and Archive Board, Haluk Hergün, the Responsible of the Museum, Mehmet Balkan, the son-in-law of , and Sculptor Tekin Gülbasar.

After the decision taken by the Coin Board last year, Lefter was included in the “Turkish Sports People Commemorative Coin” series, marking the first time a football player has been featured on a commemorative coin.

Abdullah Yasir Şahin: “Lefter is not only the pride of Fenerbahçe fans but of all Turkey.”

Abdullah Yasir Şahin, the General Director of the Mint and Stamp Printing General Directorate of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, emphasized that the decision was made by the Coin Board to record history and for young people to know Lefter, and he said:

“Lefter is not only the pride of but of all Turkey. He is one of our legends who played football in and and is a national heritage. This year, we minted our Lefter coin in our ‘Turkish Sports People Commemorative Coin’ series. May it be beneficial primarily to the Fenerbahçe community, the Turkish sports community, and our country, whether they are fans or not. Because Lefter Küçükandonyadis is the national pride of this country. I think it is a beautiful coin; we minted 3,000 of them and they are now on sale.”
