Ali Koç on TFF Elections: “Actions Matter More Than Words Now”

Ali Koç, referring to the TFF elections, said, “Will the new one be better than the old? As your president, I can say that it was better for the change to win. After many years, we now have a federation free of certain notorious elements. I don’t know how their relationship with Fenerbahçe will be. From now on, actions matter more than words. If a fair environment is established, we will support it. We can’t say this TFF will favor that notorious club, but it was certain that the previous ones would. Therefore, this change happened. I don’t want to speak ill of the previous ones, but they caused great harm to Fenerbahçe.”

President Ali Koç spoke at Fenerbahçe’s regular July High Council meeting. Koç also touched upon the TFF elections.

“We are all proud of all the athletes going to the Olympics. Hopefully, they will return with the highest number of medals because our country deserves it. If 27 athletes went to Paris from other clubs, they would be thanked, but when it’s us, not much is said. I thank our coaches and sponsors.

“WE WANT THE COMMITTEES TO BE FORMED ON MERIT”

Those who rebelled won in the TFF elections. The result was a surprise for many. An alliance won. This alliance was self-formed. This alliance is very important for the independence of football. The state will have a say, but we do not want the state’s hand in the game. We want the committees to be formed on merit. We don’t want a magic wand when a club’s transfer board is closed. We scored 99 points, and we received 7.5 million dollars. Anatolian clubs become vulnerable to intervention due to this low income. The state will support football to be worldwide. Would these stadiums exist without the state? The Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of National Education… Everyone should be involved. We are in a barren competition.

Before the elections, Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş protested. If Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş communities had marched to the TFF before the elections, could they have been candidates? People openly fear the reaction.

“WE AGREED WITH MOSTUROĞLU AT A MINIMUM LEVEL”

We had a meeting with Şekip Mosturoğlu during the week. We agreed at a minimum level. We worked together for years. We were considering not attending this meeting, but everything is in the past. There is a nice atmosphere. Hopefully, the high council will bring a good atmosphere to the community. Fenerbahçe’s high status has always been alongside the administration. Hopefully, this will continue.”
