Mourinho Reviews Win: “The Only Thing We Missed Was Scoring More Goals”
Fenerbahçe's head coach, Jose Mourinho, evaluated the victory over Adana Demirspor.
Fenerbahçe began the Süper Lig season with a win against Adana Demirspor. Jose Mourinho, the Yellow-Navy Blues’ coach, shared his thoughts on his first league victory.
Jose Mourinho‘s comments were as follows:
MOURINHO: “THE TEAM FELL PHYSICALLY”
“The only thing missing today was goals. Looking at the game we played in the first 60-65 minutes, the result should have been different. We missed many opportunities. We didn’t execute the right things in the final third. After a certain point, the team fell physically. Saint-Maximin and İrfan Can Kahveci are not in a condition to play the full 90 minutes. We deserved the victory.”
“A GOOD THING FOR TURKISH FOOTBALL”
“When you have 2 players available for a position, making substitutions becomes easier. For instance, En-Nesyri can replace Dzeko. In some situations, you need to adapt in terms of positioning. For example, Szymanski played as a midfielder, although he is a more offensive player. Later, Bartu came into the game; I think this is good for Turkish football because he is a talented young player. We are not afraid to give them playing time, and he will get more as well. We also have Yusuf and Oğuz. I believe this is beneficial for Turkish football.”
