Jose Mourinho Slams Referees and VAR After Fenerbahçe’s 5-0 Win
Fenerbahçe head coach Jose Mourinho spoke after his team's 5-0 away win against Çaykur Rizespor. Mourinho said, "Today we played against very poor referee decisions and VAR decisions."
In the 3rd week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Fenerbahçe defeated Rizespor 5-0 away. The yellow-dark blue team’s coach, Jose Mourinho, gave an interview to beIN Sports after the match.
“WE WERE HAVING FUN AMONG OURSELVES”
When asked about his exchange with Fred, who scored 3 goals, after substituting him out, the Portuguese coach replied, “We were just having fun among ourselves. The match was over, and we were enjoying it.”
Mourinho continued with the following remarks:
“WE NEED A TEAM, NOT JUST 11 PLAYERS”
“I think we have about 50 matches ahead of us. When you have 50 matches, you don’t need just 11 players; you need a team. Otherwise, you won’t be able to handle it. Once the team is balanced, you can manage this situation differently.”
“THE DYNAMISM FRED BRINGS IS DIFFERENT”
“I mentioned in a previous interview that we missed Fred, but not because he scored 3 goals. He probably won’t score 3 goals in a match again in his life. The dynamism he brings to the team is different.”
“IT’S SAD WE HAVE ONLY ONE SZYMANSKI”
“It’s unfortunate that we have only one Szymanski. If we had two Szymanskis, I would play with two. If we had three, I would play with three.”
“I’M HAPPY WHEN FANS SHOUT ISMAIL YÜKSEK’S NAME”
“I’m happy when fans shout Ismail Yüksek‘s name or the names of other players, but when we lose, we lose as a team, and when we win, we win as a team. Today, the team put in a very good performance.”
“WE PLAYED AGAINST VERY POOR REFEREE AND VAR DECISIONS”
“Today we played against very poor referee decisions and VAR decisions. We won today because the team put on a good performance.”
