Fenerbahçe Issues Warning to Turkish Football Federation Over Referee Decisions

In the 3rd week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Fenerbahçe defeated Çaykur Rizespor 5-0 away. The club has made a statement concerning the controversial referee decisions in the match.

The announcement from Fenerbahçe’s social media account under the headline “We Are Drawing Attention” reads as follows:

“We are making this statement regarding our football team’s match against Rizespor in the 3rd week of the Trendyol Süper Lig.

First of all, we thank the Rizespor management for their kind hospitality towards our team.

We also thank the Rize Police for managing all processes without any disruptions.

To our great fans who continuously supported our team in the away stands, we are grateful! This long and challenging marathon would not be possible without your support.

The point we want to emphasize in this statement is that:

Despite our team’s significant victory, the refereeing and VAR management during the first half of the match caused concerns with the ‘incomprehensible’ yellow cards and the two unawarded penalties.

Our sole request and expectation is that this approach does not continue.

We urge the Turkish Football Federation and all relevant parties to take immediate action to address the uncertainties in refereeing.”
