Fenerbahçe’s Oosterwolde on Twente Game: ‘It Was a Difficult Match’
Fenerbahçe's Dutch defender Jayden Oosterwolde, who drew 1-1 with Twente in the second week of the UEFA Europa League, said the draw was a fair result.
Speaking to reporters after the match at Twente Stadium, the young defender stated, “First of all, we knew what kind of opponent we were facing. We were familiar with them beforehand. We played against a team that can press well and run a lot. That was the first phase of the game. I think we handled it well, and I believe we tolerated it effectively. Overall, I can say it was a tough match. Looking at the second half, I think we found more chances, and we scored a goal. In general, I would say the draw was a fair result.”
When reminded that he had scored against his former team Twente and had come close to scoring again today, Oosterwolde responded, “I didn’t have any extra motivation. I go onto the pitch with the same motivation in every match I play. Today, I had a chance, but the ball hit the post. For me, the motivation is the same in every match. So, I wasn’t on the field with extra motivation just because I was playing against my former team. I’m on the field with the same motivation every match.”
