Bonucci Visits Fenerbahçe: “Fans’ Passion is Unmatched”
Leonardo Bonucci, who ended his active playing career at Fenerbahçe last season, visited the yellow-and-navy team.
Invited by the club to watch Fenerbahçe‘s UEFA Europa League Matchday 3 game against English side Manchester United on Thursday, Bonucci arrived in Istanbul and met with Sporting Director Mario Branco, Head Coach Jose Mourinho, and players at Fenerbahçe’s Can Bartu Facilities.
Bonucci watched part of the training session and caught up with former teammates afterward. Speaking to Fenerbahçe TV, he expressed his happiness about being in Istanbul and shared his thoughts on the 1-1 draw.
Bonucci said, “I am very happy to be here and grateful to the club for this invitation. When I came here last season, I felt the fans‘ passion and warmth. I saw the same thing again at the stadium yesterday, so I thank the fans. I think the team played a very good match. It was unfortunate not to win, but as long as they continue playing like this, I believe they will achieve great results in the league.”
