After Fenerbahçe’s victory over Sivasspor, player Mert Hakan Yandaş made a statement regarding Galatasaray. Yandaş said, “Everyone should clean their own doorstep. They may look angelic, as usual. They should not talk about our coach. We need to focus on increasing our fight on the field. If we dig into those matters, they’ll be embarrassed.”
In week 12 of the Süper Lig, Fenerbahçe faced off against Sivasspor and won 4-0. Fenerbahçe now sits in second place in the league, trailing leader Galatasaray by 5 points.
After the match, Fenerbahçe players Mert Hakan Yandaş, Saint-Maximin, and Samet Akaydin shared their thoughts.
Mert Hakan Yandaş said, “First of all, today is a solemn day for the Turkish nation. We remember our great leader Atatürk with respect and longing. Three days ago, we put forth a performance that didn’t suit us. Today, we talked about the importance of fighting. Without that fight, neither quality nor experience matters. We apologize to our fans for that match. It’s up to our coach to decide who gets to play. We always have to be ready. I am also very happy for Samet. We make mistakes at times, but we have never betrayed this jersey. I’m aware that our fans have endured a lot of hardship.”
